Printer

Printing cannot take place as the printer is not turned on and is shown as “Off line”. Check that your printer is connected correctly.

Power supply:

  1. Connect the power cable to the power supply unit, then plug the connector from this into the printer.
  2. Then connect the other end of the mains lead to an earthed socket.
  3. The printer is powered on. The white indicator light on the control panel lights up and the printer carries out an initialisation.

USB cable:

  1. Connect one end of the USB cable to your computer and the other end to your printer.
  2. If the connection between the computer and the printer does not function correctly, reboot your computer.

The print attempt has failed as there are no cards in the feeder.

Put some cards in the printer feeder.

You printer accepts cards from 0.50 mm to 0.76 mm thickness.

  1. Open the card feeder.
  2. Insert the number of cards desired (maximum 25 cards of 0.76 mm thickness – 40 cards of 0.50 mm thickness). Be careful when handling your cards to avoid getting dust on them which will cause scratches during printing. Insert the cards in the direction shown in the diagram below:
Badgy - How to solve empty feeder

3. Close the feeder. If you have not cancelled your print, it will restart with a new card.

The print attempt has failed. One or more cards have become jammed in the printer, or there is a defect in a mechanical component.

If a card is blocked, remove the card as follows:

  1. Open the printer cover and remove the ribbon.
  2. Press the button on the control panel to turn the card feed rollers. If the card is still stuck inside the printer, slide it manually towards the printer output. If there is more than one card, always push the top one first.
  3. Replace the ribbon, then close the printer cover.

To prevent card jams:

  1. Ensure that the thickness of the cards used matches the specifications of your printer.
  2. Check that the cards are flat. Keep them in a horizontal position.
  3. Check that the cards are not stuck together. Shuffle the cards before loading them.

If the cards are not jammed and the problem is due to a mechanical defect, please contact your Badgy dealer for advice and support.

The printer has detected an increase in the temperature of the printing system and has automatically switched to cooling mode.

  • Wait until the cooling cycle finishes then restart any printing operations.
  • If this happens again, check the ambient temperature in the room. If this is normal, contact your dealer to have your printer checked.

The printer is in standby mode and has just received a print request. Transition to “Ready” mode is under way.

  • Wait a few seconds for the printer to become ready to print.
  • If nothing happens and the printer’s On-Off button is off, press it to restart the printer.

Ribbon Haut de page

The print attempt has failed. There is no ribbon in the printer.

A Badgy ribbon must be installed in the machine.

  1. Open the printer cover.
  2. Take a Badgy ribbon.
  3. Insert the ribbon cassette into the printer.
  4. Close the printer cover again. The ribbon will automatically synchronise itself during the next print. If your print has not been cancelled, it will continue normally.

NB: Badgy original ribbons have been specially designed to guarantee that your equipment will work to the best of its ability without any risk of damage. Using a third-party brand of ribbon is liable to seriously damage the print head and cause the manufacturer’s warranty to be immediately invalidated.

The ribbon installed in the machine is not recognised by the system:

  1. This ribbon is not a Badgy ribbon and does not have a recognition system
  • Contact your dealer to exchange your current ribbon for a certified consumable which alone will allow you to get the best graphic performance from your printer.
  • Nevertheless, if you need to print cards in an emergency, manually configure your unrecognised ribbon in the Print Center:
    • Check “Manually configure the ribbon type”
    • Select the ribbon type from the list
    • Confirm by clicking “OK” and exit the Print Center.

    • NOTE:  Using an uncertified ribbon could cause damage to the printer and its print head if the film is cut or due to dust residues or the presence of non-compliant materials. Evolis declines all responsibility in the event of damage.

2. This ribbon is a Badgy ribbon but its recognition system is defective

  • Remove the ribbon from the printer
  • Turn the printer off then on again after a few seconds – the ribbon should be recognised.
  • If the problem persists, change the ribbon and contact your dealer to obtain an exchange for the defective consumable. This exchange is undertaken under the warranty for Badgy consumables.
  • If the problem persists with a new ribbon, it is possible that the printer’s detection system is defective. Get your printer checked by your dealer.

The ribbon installed in the printer appears to be inappropriate for printing the card requested.

  1. The printing request requires characteristics not compatible with the ribbon installed:
  • Colour printing with a monochrome ribbon
  • Monochrome printing with a colour ribbon (loss of panels)
  • Etc.
  1. Check the graphic components of your badge with the ribbon installed in the machine. If they seem compatible, start the print again.
